About The Position

The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) is seeking an Executive Assistant and Board Liaison to support its mission of building, sustaining, and empowering an effective environmental health workforce. This role is crucial for an organization that supports thousands of members dedicated to ensuring public health and safety in various environmental aspects. NEHA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, collaborates with federal partners on critical issues like extreme weather, food safety, and water quality. With over 7,000 members and a staff of over 40, NEHA sets professional standards, provides education and training, and engages in advocacy. This position is a full-time, remote role for individuals residing in the lower 48 states, requiring self-starters who thrive in a home office environment and can work both independently and collaboratively. The role involves 40 hours per week, reporting directly to the CEO, and may require intermittent work on nights and weekends to accommodate members and partners in different time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the point of contact between the CEO and internal/external clients
  • Coordinates Board of Director functions
  • Coordinates executive communications, including responding to emails as appropriate
  • Drafts letters and other organizational documents
  • Schedules meetings and appointments and manages travel itineraries
  • Maintains an organized filing system of paper and electronic documents
  • Prepares reports by collecting and analyzing information
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Upholds a strict level of confidentiality
  • Develops and sustains a level of professionalism among staff, Board of Directors and partners
  • Contributes by accomplishing related tasks as needed
