About The Position

The Executive Accountant II performs professional accounting and financial analysis work vital to the County’s fiscal operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, and procedures. The Executive Accountant II supports departmental operations by providing financial insight and technical accounting assistance. This position is required, as directed, to report onsite before, during, and after emergency events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major in accounting
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a government setting
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret program user guides, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, flow charts, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Critical thinking and ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Considerable knowledge of contemporary technology tools, information systems, computer hardware and software, and security administration
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using work processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Must be well organized

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and overseeing accounting records
  • Performing financial analysis
  • Preparing reports for all assigned County funds and cost centers
  • Coordinating and supporting audits as required
  • Maintaining expertise in the County’s financial systems and reporting tools
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financials records
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency
  • Aligning accounting practices with the County’s operational and organization objectives
  • Financial analysis, ledger review, account reconciliations, and reporting for County funds, cost centers, and other business segments, as assigned
  • Account analysis and prepare journal entries as needed
  • Review annual Drug Forfeiture reports for court approval
  • Prepare and submit quarterly Coastal Park reports for the General Land Office and other periodic reports as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and government accounting standards
  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to executive leadership
  • Assist with annual ACFR, annual audit, and other reviews/audits as assigned
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly customer invoices billings to assigned business projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Benefits
