About The Position

The Exceptional Student Services Facilitator will build and strengthen special education and regular education teachers' ability to design and implement standards-based lessons. This role involves team teaching, staff development, collaborations, modeling, individual coaching, and assessment. The position is for a 9-month term on the teacher salary schedule.

Requirements

Valid Louisiana teacher’s certificate
Master’s degree preferred
Special education certification preferred
Five years of teaching experience or related field

Responsibilities

Research, share, and model effective teaching strategies, including problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills.
Observe and critique teaching methods, assist teachers in implementing research-based teaching strategies and retrain when necessary.
Meet with teachers individually and collectively during school hours and/or after school for professional development opportunities.
Work with general education teachers to identify students having learning difficulties, especially in areas of language arts and math.
Provide job-embedded support and guidance in pre-referral activities and interventions to regular education teachers.
Develop avenues of contact with parents of students needing additional help.
Plan and implement tutorial activities for students in language arts and math.
Effectively analyze and use test data.
Help teachers develop appropriate assessments.
Exhibit professional ethics and consistently demonstrate self-direction.
Follow state and local school board policies.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the ESS Director or designee.
