About The Position

The teacher is responsible for managing the classroom, monitoring student progress, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • North Carolina teaching license.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of students, especially during inclusive activities.
  • Motivate students and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including maintaining basic files and records.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the classroom.
  • Operate common office machines.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are ready for each lesson.
  • Get students started quickly and on task at the beginning of each lesson.
  • Maintain a high level of student time-on-task.
  • Establish rules and procedures for classroom routines, student participation, movement, and behavior management.
  • Promptly and consistently stop inappropriate behavior while maintaining student dignity.
  • Begin lessons with a review of previous materials.
  • Introduce lessons and specific learning objectives.
  • Speak fluently and precisely, using understandable concepts and language.
  • Provide relevant examples and demonstrations.
  • Assign tasks with a high rate of student success.
  • Ask appropriate questions that students can answer successfully.
  • Conduct lessons at a brisk pace, adjusting for student understanding.
  • Make efficient and smooth transitions between lessons and activities.
  • Ensure assignments are clear.
  • Summarize main points of the lesson at the end.
  • Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable work standards and due dates.
  • Circulate during class work to check student performance.
  • Routinely use work products to check student progress.
  • Pose questions clearly and one at a time.
  • Provide feedback on in-class work to encourage student growth.
  • Regularly provide prompt feedback on out-of-class work.
  • Affirm correct responses and provide sustaining feedback after incorrect responses.
  • Maintain an instructional plan compatible with school and system-wide curricular goals.
  • Use diagnostic information to develop and revise objectives and tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Align instructional plans with objectives, strategies, assessment, and student needs.
  • Use available resources to support the instructional program.
  • Treat all students fairly and equitably.
  • Interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
  • Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate growth.
  • Uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional conduct.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
