Requirements

  • Less than a High School Diploma and related construction experience

Responsibilities

  • Operates a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket for excavating ditches, structures, and mass excavations, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, loading trucks, and placing rock riprap.
  • May also be equipped with various hydraulic attachments.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
  • May oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine.
  • Make necessary adjustment to equipment as needed.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
