About The Position

The Exam Proctor is responsible for overseeing the administration of examinations for students at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. This position ensures a secure, fair, and standardized testing environment by monitoring examinations, maintaining academic integrity, enforcing institutional testing policies and procedures, assisting with examination logistics, documenting testing irregularities, and providing professional support to students throughout the examination process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-2 years
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining examination security and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and objective under pressure while exercising sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with standard examination protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and consistently enforce examination policies, procedures, and academic integrity standards.
  • Ability to observe and monitor multiple individuals simultaneously in a testing environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of examination materials and student information in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or coursework in education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting, preferably in proctoring or supervisory role is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms in accordance with established testing protocols.
  • Verify student identities and ensure appropriate seating arrangements.
  • Distribute, collect, secure, and account for examination materials before, during, and after each examination.
  • Ensure all required testing resources and materials are available prior to the start of the examination.
  • Monitor students throughout examinations to maintain a secure, fair, and standardized testing environment.
  • Enforce examination policies and procedures consistently.
  • Identify, address, and document suspected academic integrity violations or other testing irregularities.
  • Maintain a quiet, orderly, and distraction-free testing environment.
  • Provide clear instructions regarding examination procedures and expectations.
  • Respond to procedural questions while maintaining examination security.
  • Assist students experiencing approved testing accommodations, technical issues, or personal emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Coordinate with faculty or the Examination Coordinator to resolve issues that arise during testing.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional examination policies, procedures, and security requirements.
  • Report testing incidents, irregularities, or security concerns promptly to the Examination Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required examination documentation.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of examination materials and student information.
