About The Position

A Carter Lumber EWP Sawyer is responsible for processing and cutting i-joists to specifications to ensure a quality product is produced. Projects are standard set up and generally routine based. Completes tasks as directed with minimal supervision. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a forklift and chainsaw
  • Knowledge of safety procedures while handling saws and other tools
  • Possess manual dexterity and the ability to do repetitious work
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instruction
  • Ability to read and understand simple diagrams and blueprints
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace
  • Ability to work in inclement weather
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, mill, or lumber environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gathering materials needed to perform job according to requirements.
  • Reading cut sheets to determine the amount, size and grade of material that needs cut.
  • Setting up machines properly to ensure accuracy of cuts are made.
  • Ensuring a quality product is produced.
  • Maintaining inventory by providing an accurate count of products.
  • Managing an equipment servicing schedule.
  • Meeting daily, weekly and team related production goals.
  • Loading and unloading semi flat beds on a daily basis.
  • Adhering to safety requirements by operating equipment and handling material in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Acknowledging and reporting any defects or safety issues to supervisor immediately.
  • Accurately completing daily jobs on the production schedule.
  • Keeping EWP area clean and well organized.
  • Efficiently optimizing cuts - keeping "bad" drops to a minimum.
  • Keeping staging area well organized.
  • Maintaining chain saw blades.
  • Performing monthly cycle counts.
