About The Position

Reporting to the General Manager – Quebec region, the EWP Sales Specialist, who primarily represents Doman engineered wood products and seeks out business opportunities for other Doman products, is responsible for converting new customers and upgrading existing customers, promoting manufacturers’ programs, and sourcing new business opportunities in province of Quebec and Eastern Ontario as the assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Previous outside sales experience required in the business-to-business market
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills – both oral and written
  • Ability to develop strong business relationships with senior level managers, owners, contract sellers and buying decision makers.
  • Understand the sales process; comfortable with call planning and reporting
  • Have met or exceeded sales targets on a consistent basis
  • Experience in selling at both program level and transactional level
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving and deal structuring skills
  • Maintain positive and enthusiastic attitude even in adverse situations.
  • Professionally aggressive, “hunter” personality
  • Strong listening skills and technical aptitude
  • Comfortable with and proven success with customer visits.
  • High level understanding of construction, blueprints and building methods.
  • Knowledge and experience with engineered wood products.
  • Good computer skills; very comfortable with Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills at a capacity to influence sales, in person and over the phone, with customers at various levels
  • Write emails, letters, and sale documents in a professional manner.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record. Maintaining a clean driving record is a condition of employment.
  • Bilingual (French and English) is a requirement.
  • High school diploma is a minimum requirement.
  • Formal sales training is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Building industry or trade experience is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in business, project management, or technical certificate programs

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing account relationships and continually source opportunities to increase sales and promote vendor programs.
  • Determine our customers’ needs, drive our EWP business, and explore new opportunities.
  • Promote the services and value-added program of EWP strategies.
  • Maintain productive relationships with retailers, and specifiers to ensure continued support for EWP.
  • Work with manufacturers’ representatives to develop and implement strategic growth in each of the product lines.
  • Determine customers’ needs by demonstrating knowledge of the industry, pricing, competition, and develop effective proposals for presentation.
  • Maintain diligence with call planning, reporting, and follow-ups to ensure an effective communication loop is maintained with customers, operations, and General Manager.
