We are actively working on the feasibility study for the A220 new development which is an exciting milestone for the A220 Program. In this context we are looking for the right leader to embark on this journey. The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a EWIS 3D Senior Designer (f/m) to join our EWIS engineering department based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you will work jointly with a multifunctional team including Chief Engineering, Program, Method, Manufacturing etc You will be part of the EWIS engineering team responsible for : Major development projects on the A220 Production and in-service support Investigation and solution identification for problems impacting aircraft airworthiness The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively. This job request is for a highly skilled Senior 3D Designer who will play a critical role in the design and leadership of Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS). The position is structured as a growth opportunity for an experienced professional to develop the technical and strategic expertise required to potentially become a future Design Authority. Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 10 years of aerospace experience in the 3D EWIS installation domain.
  • Are a subject matter expert in Catia V5 or 3DX (V6), with a deep understanding of its electrical and wire harness design workbenches.
  • Are highly proficient in Enovia, with a proven track record of managing complex project data, workflows, and configurations.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of EWIS regulations (e.g., FAR, EASA) and industry standards (e.g., SAE).
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence design decisions and mentor a team.
  • Are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EWIS MRB (Material Review Board) approval knowledge and understanding is a significant asset.
  • Are well-versed in the processes and requirements for earning a Design Authority designation, with a clear desire to grow into that role in the near future.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the 3D design and integration of EWIS from conceptualization through to production, providing a senior level of technical expertise on complex aerospace programs to meet safety and certification requirements
  • Utilize advanced Catia skills to create, optimize, and manage detailed 3D models of wiring harnesses, including complex routing, bundle segregation, and component placement to meet strict regulatory and functional requirements.
  • Leverage Enovia for comprehensive product lifecycle management (PLM), ensuring meticulous data integrity, configuration control, and seamless collaboration across engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a high-performance design culture and contributing to the development of best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including systems, stress, and manufacturing engineering—to resolve integration challenges and ensure designs are manufacturable and maintainable.
  • Support Design Review Authority activities by presenting and defending design solutions, demonstrating a thorough understanding of EWIS regulations, and preparing all necessary documentation for compliance.
