Build your Career. Make a Difference. Presbyterian is hiring a skilled EW Coder-Lead to join our team. As a Lead EW Coder, you will coordination of coding abstracting, statistics and data retrieval functions with accountability of Accounts Receivable targets, reporting deadlines and compliance with JCAHO indicators.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must have any one of the following coding certifications at time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC-A, CPC-H-A, CPC-H or CPC.
• One to three years experience as a coder

Responsibilities

• Coding and abstracting of both Inpatient and Outpatient material.
• Responsible for equitable distribution of work and for insuring that charts are processed in a timely way.
• Schedules staff in accordance with workflow and work load and trouble shoots problem areas.
• Performs ongoing quality monitoring of individuals in the unit and provides monthly feedback in the form of statistics to manager and unit members.
• Responsible for keeping unit members updated on regulatory changes.
• Trains new employees.
• Coordinates educational inservices and serves as a first line resource for coding questions.
• Acts as liaison between coding staff and Business Office, Admitting Office and physicians.
• Provides input for performance evaluations and hiring.
• Prepares all quality information for review at the ED MD Quality Committee meeting which meets monthly.
• Prepares return correspondence to patients and other providers for the ED Medical Director following the Quality meeting.
• Performs all duties of executive secretary to the ED Medical Director
