About The Position
The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech), also referred to as a Hospital Housekeeper, helps maintain a safe and healthy hospital environment by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, and adjacent buildings. The role includes proper medical and hazardous waste disposal, restocking supplies, maintaining floors and surfaces, and responding to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents. The position is full-time, with an evening shift listed as 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and eight-hour hours, at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, understand, and communicate effectively.
Nice To Haves
- One year of knowledge of acute-care hospital environmental services techniques, practices, and procedures is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to help prevent the spread of infections.
- Dispose of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols.
- Restock supplies, including gloves, masks, and cleaning materials, in hospital areas.
- Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals.
- Respond to urgent cleaning needs, including spills or contamination incidents, and communicate promptly using phones, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices.
- Maintain cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, traveling between facilities independently when required.
