About The Position

The Housekeeping Associate II is responsible for the general cleanliness of various areas within the Medical Facilities, including procedure areas, Wound Care, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Intensive Care Unit patient care areas, restrooms, and other areas requiring Environmental Services support. This role involves removing trash and linen using a compactor and cardboard baler, distributing linen throughout the hospital, and performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, and surface cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, mirrors, showers, commodes, windows, and other glass areas, waiting areas, and public hallways. The position also includes performing terminal cleaning of isolation rooms or exam rooms as required and moving furniture and heavy equipment as directed. The employee must complete established competencies within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to read, write and understand the English language.
  • 2 years of cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare.
  • Terminal cleaning experience.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Graduate, GED, or 2 years of full-time work experience in environmental services in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.
  • Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs done when necessary.
  • Observes and reports on the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
  • Applies proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.
  • Performs other assigned tasks.
  • Accounts for cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas, ensures that the schedule is complete, and instructions from supervisors are followed.
  • Utilizes tools, supplies and chemicals for their intended purposes so that equipment and hospital property are not damaged.
  • Uses good judgment and proper procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service always.
  • Understands and enforces system, departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
  • Trains in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operation of the department/work unit or to permit flexible staffing assignments.
  • Complies with System and facility safety policies and rules; utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; reports all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
