About The Position

The Housekeeping Associate II is responsible for the general cleanliness of various areas within the Medical Facilities, including procedure areas, Wound Care, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Intensive Care Unit patient care areas, restrooms, and all other areas requiring Environmental Services support. This role involves removing trash and linen from the hospital using a compactor and cardboard baler, and distributing linen throughout the hospital. The routine duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, and surface cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, mirrors, showers, commodes, windows, and other glass areas, as well as waiting areas and public hallways. The position also requires performing terminal cleaning of isolation rooms or exam rooms as needed, and moving furniture and heavy equipment as directed. The employee must complete established competencies within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to read, write and understand the English language.
  • 2 years of cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare.
  • Terminal cleaning experience.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Graduate, GED, or 2 years of full-time work experience in environmental services in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.
  • Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and ensures repairs are done when necessary.
  • Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures.
  • Applies proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.
  • Ensures cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas, completes schedules, and follows supervisor instructions.
  • Utilizes tools, supplies, and chemicals appropriately to prevent damage to equipment and hospital property.
  • Uses good judgment and proper procedures in performing assigned tasks.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and provides excellent customer service.
  • Understands and enforces system, departmental, and hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Trains in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory department operation or flexible staffing.
  • Complies with System and facility safety policies and rules; utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures; reports unsafe conditions; checks with supervisors if unsure about safe procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment and meet deadlines.
  • Completes assignments independently, works as part of a team, takes instructions from supervisors, exercises problem-solving skills, and interacts professionally with others.
  • Communicates appropriately with employees and customers based on the situation and age level.
  • Performs all essential job functions while on duty.
