About The Position

Maintain cleanliness within all patient and office areas. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of carpets, chairs, and hard floor surfaces using the latest techniques available. Following established protocol, the employee is responsible for calling the alarm company at the end of each shift and providing their personal passcode. Equipment must be checked for safety hazards and general service. Any safety problems or other unsafe conditions must be reported to the supervisor. Inspections must be completed before work begins and at the end of each shift. Equipment must be thoroughly cleaned daily and placed in the designated area for storage. The role involves shampooing carpets and chairs in all public areas and offices as assigned, and stripping and waxing hard floor surfaces. Any work requiring the use of a ladder, cleaning walls, vents, light fixtures, and windows must be performed. The employee must follow the chain of command and may perform other job-related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI. The EVS "Floater" will be required to float to any facility to work based upon business needs.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Skill in organizing time to accommodate changes in workload and assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Skill to pay attention to details and accuracy in completing tasks.
  • Respond positively to changes in locations, assignments and priorities.

  • Able to identify hazardous material in immediate work area.
  • Willingly participates in cross-training activities within the department for own professional growth in order to contribute to the overall function of SDMI.
  • Assume responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
  • Demonstrate punctuality by reporting to work on time/satisfactory attendance record that complies with SDMI attendance policy.
  • Can tolerate the presence and/or use of chemicals, cleaners and solvents.
  • Ability to move, transport and operate heavy-duty or industrial type equipment such as vacuums, blowers, extractors and rotary shampooers.
  • Able to sustain physical and mental demands; standing, walking, and working at various heights up to approximately 6 ½ feet above the floor.
  • Able to move trash cart from work areas to dumpster and unload.
  • Report any existing conditions that do not meet company standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness on a constant basis.
  • Utilize supplies and equipment effectively.
  • Assume responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
  • Communicates effectively when follow up is needed.
  • Must pass a background check and have no CMS disqualifying events.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of patient and office areas.

  • Shampoo carpets and chairs in all public areas and offices as assigned.
  • Strip and wax hard floor surfaces.
  • Clean walls, vents, light fixtures, and windows.
  • Call the alarm company at the end of each shift and provide personal passcode.
  • Check equipment for safety hazards and general service.
  • Report safety problems or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Complete inspections before work begins and at the end of each shift.
  • Thoroughly clean equipment daily and place in designated storage area.
  • Perform work requiring the use of a ladder.
  • Follow the chain of command.
  • Float to any facility to work based upon business needs.
  • Complete or direct the completion of an occurrence report within 24 hours of an event/occurrence/risk.
  • Identify hazardous material in the immediate work area.
  • Follow all SDMI safety and evacuation plan guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in cross-training activities within the department.
  • Update knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
  • Take full responsibility for all functions within the job description and ensure all functions are completed before leaving at the end of the shift.
  • Tolerate the presence and/or use of chemicals, cleaners and solvents.

  • Protect patient's health information and confidentiality.
  • Abide by all aspects of Public Law 104-191.
  • Treat all information received as confidential and privileged.
  • Do not disclose information regarding SDMI's patients to any person or entity, other than as necessary to perform the job and as permitted under SDMI's HIPAA policies.
  • Safeguard computer password and do not post it in a public place.
