About The Position

The EVS Floor Tech cleans and services hospital building areas, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies, and performs environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, safe, and sanitary condition. The role is at St. Francis–Emory Healthcare, a 376-bed community-connected hospital in Columbus, Georgia, and is identified as a night position. The position includes selecting and preparing cleaning materials and solutions, transporting supplies to work areas, cleaning assigned areas and floors, maintaining restrooms, handling trash and potentially hazardous waste, and supporting linen and furniture arrangements. The employee returns and organizes unused supplies. The role requires fluent English, regular attendance, and good interpersonal skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and prior acute-care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Select cleaning materials and supplies, prepare cleaning solutions, and load and transport a service cart to the work area.
Clean assigned areas, including walls, doors, tile, fixtures, patient TVs, and equipment, using germicidal cleaning solutions.
Sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpet, and spot-clean carpet with appropriate solutions.
Clean restrooms, vanity areas, showers, and commodes; maintain sanitary, odor-free conditions and replenish essentials.
Collect and remove trash, and sanitize garbage cans and the compactor area.
May collect and transport hazardous waste in a special closed container for sterilization before disposal.
May collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.
Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
Return unused supplies to the janitor closet and keep supplies orderly.
Maintain good and regular attendance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
