The EVS Attendant is responsible for properly sorting soiled clothes and keeping them in the designated area in the laundry room. This includes ensuring soiled linen is never mixed with clean linen and designated clean linen containers are not used to store soiled linen. The role involves sorting soiled clothes into categories such as bed linens, towels, wash cloths, belts, and resident wearing apparel. The attendant washes wearing apparel separately after sorting it by color and type, and washes according to the posted formula on the washing machine, which accounts for water mineral content, disinfection needs, washing cycle length, softening, and soap removal. Personal wearing apparel is returned to the resident's closet or dresser, ensuring all personal items are properly marked. The attendant consults with the Supervisor or Director of Nursing before discarding any clothing or linen and maintains equipment and the laundry room daily, including cleaning the floors. They also work with family members concerning any laundry issues about the clothes or personal linen for the Residents. Additionally, the role adheres to Community Wide Standards including Customer Service, Education and Staff In-Services, Infection Control, Professionalism, Safety, and Time and Attendance.
