EVS Associate - Jefferson Cherry Hill (FT, Evenings)
About The Position
The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate maintains high housekeeping standards by cleaning assigned areas according to schedules and procedures, creating a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient-care environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role helps prevent cross-contamination, control bacteria and odors, and maintain acceptable aseptic conditions. Associates may also assist with moves, recycling, supply delivery, and removal of trash and biohazard waste. The position requires rotating weekends and holidays and is scheduled for an evening work shift. The role is based at Jefferson Cherry Hill in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Six months to one year of housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.
- Availability to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
- Interact with coworkers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson’s values.
- Establish and maintain clean, sanitary, and safe assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures.
- Dispose of biohazards in accordance with EPA and OSHA codes and regulations, and handle environmental contaminants such as batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles.
- Keep the biohazard food and loading area safe and free of debris.
- Maintain equipment, including cleaning carts, buckets, floor machines, other equipment, and supply closets.
- Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for protection against blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
- Follow hospital and departmental hand-hygiene policy.
- Maintain carpet and hard-surface flooring according to departmental procedures.
- Observe safety precautions when pushing equipment and report faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems in accordance with safety policy.
- Use wet-floor signs to prevent slips and perform duties in compliance with policy and safety practices.
- Converse with patients and visitors using scripting, extend courtesy, and demonstrate high standards of conduct.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies, recycling, and set-ups at the request of a supervisor or staff member.
- Respond to pages or phone calls in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
