About The Position

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits. The Evidence Technician is responsible for the receiving and storing evidence in the appropriate storage location, following call current policies and procedures to ensure the proper chain of custody is maintained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
  • GCIC/NCIC certification within one year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • GCIC/NCIC certification
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, processing, and storing evidence by following current policies and procedures to ensure that chain of custody is maintained
  • Logging, tracking, and completing paperwork for evidence
  • Maintaining files and evidence storage
  • Entering information into records management system (RMS)
  • Verifying and gathering information through GCIC/NCIC and other systems
  • Performing clerical functions such as answering phones, preparing files, and using basic computer skills
  • Providing customer service
  • Reading maps and applying applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Testifying in court as to the integrity, preservation, transportation and chain of custody of property and evidence.
