About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Research & Instruction Services, the Research & Evidence Synthesis Liaison Librarian will establish, coordinate and anchor RIT Libraries’ new evidence synthesis service by providing expert methodological guidance, protocol development and reproducible search strategies for large-scale literature reviews. This position will support the academic and grant-writing needs of faculty, graduate students, and staff through expert consultations, advanced instruction, comprehensive literature searches and end-to-end project workflow support across multiple disciplines and colleges. This position will collaborate with colleagues across RIT Libraries and campus to design and deliver instruction, workshops, and consultations related to data literacy and responsible uses of AI in research and scholarship with an emphasis on conceptual understanding, appropriate tool selection, and responsible practice. The position will maintain awareness of evolving research, teaching, and publishing trends across disciplines and translate that awareness into responsive library services, instructional offerings and resource development. This position also provides reference, research services, outreach and instruction to students, staff and faculty at RIT’s global campuses including RIT Dubai, RIT Croatia and RIT Kosovo by building collaborative partnerships across global campuses to ensure equitable access to research tools and instruction. The position will develop topical and subject specific guides and incorporate innovative technologies and instructional technologies to enhance student learning and student success.

Requirements

  • Expertise in research methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience with conducting primary research.
  • Expertise in evidence synthesis search methodologies, guidelines, and standards (ex., those recommended by Cochrane, Campbell, the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence, PRISMA, ROSES).
  • Familiarity with evidence synthesis project management tools such as: Covidence, DistillerSR, Rayyan, or others.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex, multi-database search strategies.
  • Familiarity with citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, EndNote).
  • Knowledge of ethical AI use and reproducible research practices.
  • Experienced with the application of AI/LLMs in research workflows.
  • Strong pedagogical and cross-cultural communication skills to deliver engaging training and outreach across multi-campus, diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of major online information services
  • Knowledge of data administration principles and practices
  • Skill in assessing and integrating appropriate complex technologies into the collection and instruction programs
  • Skill in organizational and time management
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with a wide range of technical skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and a strong commitment to teaching, learning, collaboration, and public service

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • MS/MLS from ALA-Accredited Institution or Master's degree in related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end project management and methodological guidance for systematic reviews, scoping reviews, protocols, grant proposals and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Design, execute, and promote high-quality comprehensive, reproducible, database-specific search strategies, including gray literature sources.
  • Co-author, collaborate, or serve as a consultant on interdisciplinary research projects and grant proposals.
  • Guide researchers on the ethical use of AI tools and LLMs in literature reviews, research, and scholarly publishing.
  • Ensure best practices for the documentation, reporting, and transparency.
  • Mentor and train library colleagues in evidence synthesis methods, search standards and best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging developments in evidence synthesis, open scholarship, research data management, AI applications and dissemination strategies.
  • International travel to the global campuses (approximately one trip per year on a rotating basis) may be required.
  • Occasional weekend and non-traditional shifts will be required to accommodate time zone differences.
  • Assists students and university community members fulfill their research needs at service points
  • Serves as a liaison for programs to promote two-way communications regarding library services, policies, and user concerns
  • Provides informed selection, maintenance, and weeding of books, serials, databases, and other appropriate materials based on the curricular and research needs of the colleges of the programs listed
  • Collaborates with faculty to provide curricular support and instructional sessions that support pedagogy and learning outcomes
  • Develops relevant subjection and course-specific guidance and tutorials to assist students
  • Stays current of new and emerging tools and technologies
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Salary range: $59,900-$70,000 annually
