About The Position

The Events role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating events, including children's birthday parties, within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. This role also involves delivering friendly customer service, completing operational tasks such as truck unloading and merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards. The position requires engaging with clients of all ages, demonstrating and instructing craft projects, performing face painting, facilitating party add-ons, communicating event details, completing administrative tasks, adjusting plans based on client feedback, creating backup plans, and ensuring client satisfaction. Upholding cleanliness and safety standards, and setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after each event are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role involves assisting customers with shopping, providing a fast and friendly checkout experience, promoting loyalty programs and credit cards, educating customers on surveys, and supporting omni-channel processes. Participation in truck unloads, stocking, planogram processes, merchandise recovery, and store-in-stock optimization are also expected. The role requires adherence to standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards, as well as interacting positively with others and serving as a role model. Cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production, and participating in daily store cleanliness activities are also part of the role. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.
  • Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for.
  • Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
