About The Position

Saint Joseph's College of Maine is hiring for the part-time position of Events Set-Up and Banquet Server for the Stone Barn at Sebago Lake! We are looking for highly motivated, creative individuals with a keen attention to detail and a passion for spectacular customer service to join our events staff. This role is demanding yet rewarding, with summer hours focused heavily on weddings and ticketed events. We offer part-time positions with flexible scheduling based on booked events, requiring availability on days, nights, and weekends. This is an on-call position to work as needed to assist with the execution of events.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Current Food Handler certification, or ability to obtain certification.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Food Handler Certification required and must maintain certification.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of guests, college students, faculty, staff, and senior management.
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence at all social events.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail and consistency.
  • An aptitude for math skills for accurately cashing out patrons and measuring beverage ingredients.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high levels of customer satisfaction through anticipation of needs, effective problem solving, and overall positive attitude.
  • Detail oriented, to include impeccable cleanliness of work area.
  • Ability to work on their feet for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of food service including formal and informal catering events.
  • Tolerates work-related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism.
  • Serve-Safe certified or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Completes the set up and break down of events by reading and understanding set up specifications for booked events.
  • Works well with other team members to complete a set up.
  • Assists with internal and external event setups to include chairs, tables, supplies, light food prep and plating, staging, signs, and trash removal.
  • Reports any damage or issue to the Agritourism Events Manager.
  • Transports products from kitchen and storage location to event location.
  • Ensures the highest level of Customer Satisfaction by interacting and filling customer requests.
  • Works well with other team members to deliver the ultimate guest experience.
  • Listens to special requests and fills the request as needed.
  • Executes the event to the highest standard, acting quickly to fix issues that may arise.
  • Maintains a professional presence in front of staff and guests at all times.
  • Ensures that guests remain unimpaired and safe, reporting any impaired behavior or guests to the Event Supervisor.
  • Ensures that tasks and requests are completed with the proper level of urgency.
  • Reports any safety hazard, service issue, or guest complaint to the Event Supervisor.
  • Arrives to a shift on time and in uniform.
  • Ensures all equipment is clean, in working condition, and organized during and after an event.
  • Ensures floors are kept clean and free of waste, food, and spills, clearing plates, wiping counters, and keeping food servers full.
