About The Position

The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) seeks a part-time Events Coordinator to join a team that deeply appreciates the role of museums in building community, exploring identity, and activating Jewish values. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, this position provides essential administrative and logistical support across all stages of program planning and delivery. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable working both behind the scenes and in public-facing roles—helping ensure that each program is welcoming, well-executed, and mission-aligned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in cultural programming, live event coordination, or related fields
  • Ability to work some regular evenings and weekends as programs require, including recurring Sundays
  • Familiarity with Zoom, social media platforms, and event management software (Altru Blackbaud experience is a plus)
  • Ability to hold space for a range of participant experiences and emotions, foster calm, and navigate challenging interactions within a fast-paced, public-facing setting
  • Demonstrated success in working with a culturally diverse community
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to respond to others with empathy, patience, clarity, and care
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and implement improvements that benefit visitors, volunteers, and staff
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking
  • Ability to successfully interact and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve results, including program presenters, vendors, and lay leaders

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Public Programs in planning, developing, and evaluating programs aligned with departmental goals and budgets.
  • Support review of program proposals, providing input on format, content, and feasibility.
  • Research, identify, and book speakers, performers, program partners, and vendors, and provide logistical support for each throughout the program process, including coordinating travel and hospitality for visiting presenters.
  • Foster supportive and collaborative relationships with presenters, scholars, speakers, artists, and community partners.
  • Travel locally to pick up program supplies and organize program resources, including catering orders, materials, and event supplies.
  • Draft marketing and social media copy for programs in collaboration with internal and external parties.
  • Set up and maintain event listings in Altru, Facebook, Zoom, and other digital platforms.
  • Assist with the development of run-of-show documents, event layouts, and staffing/volunteer schedules.
  • Manage program set-up and break-down, including light facilities work and catering preparation, and coordination with front of house, production studio, custodial, security, and other teams.
  • Emcee programs as needed and serve as a point of contact for the public at programs, both on-site and online.
  • Submit and track invoices and program-related payments, and manage program files, including RSVP and registrants lists, program working documents, and program documentation photos.
  • Support the physical setup of programs, including lifting and moving up to 25 pounds.
