About The Position

The Event Attendant will be under the supervision of the Civic Center Manager and the general direction of the Parks Director. This role is primarily responsible for facility cleaning, preparation, and monitoring for events held at the Civic Center, Community Center, and North Center, as well as providing general support to the Parks Department. The Event Attendant is expected to maintain a professional presence for the facilities and ensure satisfaction for clients, guests, and vendors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of related work experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting all inventory and building entry/exit ways using proper cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Disinfect and deodorize restrooms, mirrors, kitchen appliances, meeting rooms, common areas, offices, floors, walls, tables, chairs, carpets, floor mats, and other fixtures.
  • Use proper chemicals in accordance with training to ensure inventory is clean and sanitized.
  • Perform setup and breakdown for meetings and events as instructed, including setting up tables, chairs, podiums, dance floors, stages, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies related to rental facilities and prepare reports as needed.
  • Report unsafe equipment, tools, electrical systems, tables, chairs, and vehicles.
  • Ensure event facilities and surrounding areas are kept clean and neat at all times.
  • Serve as the primary contact during events, communicating professionally with renters to ensure facilities, equipment, and setup meet event requirements and contractual agreements while adhering to safety, health, and fire code standards.
  • Operate and/or assist renters with services in event facilities, including lighting, audio/visual equipment, HVAC, electrical systems, general cleaning equipment, parking, loading areas, and accessible entrances/exits.
  • Sign renters in/out of event facilities and monitor events, maintaining contact with renters to ensure guest and vendor safety and adherence to City policies.
  • Document damage or policy violations by reporting unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries to proper authorities; prepare incident and event reports.
  • Set up beverage service, make coffee, tea, bottled water, ice, and sodas, and pick up food products for meetings and events when necessary.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for event facilities and the City of Schertz Employee Handbook.
  • Represent the best interests of the City by recognizing and solving potential problems, anticipating needs, and resolving customer service inquiries.
  • Perform data entry, copying, faxes, and complete daily checklists at the end of shifts by scanning and sending to supervisor via email, creating and completing work orders.
  • May perform administrative support functions such as maintaining facility signage and system operations; may provide customer service support in the office, over the phone, and by leading facility tours.
  • Attend job training and safety programs.
  • May be called upon during any City emergency or disaster.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
