About The Position

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is seeking a dynamic Events Associate to join their crypto team. This role is responsible for delivering high-touch event experiences from concept to execution, managing key aspects of event planning, and collaborating across teams to ensure seamless delivery. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent judgment and research skills, and enjoys creating distinguished attendee experiences. The position can be based in San Francisco or New York City, requires at least two days per week in the office, and involves approximately 30% travel.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience producing events, including large-scale conferences, summits, and executive experiences.
  • Proven experience managing event budgets, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and production partners (staffing, security, AV, lighting, etc.).
  • Superior project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented, with the ability to build structure, improve workflows, and quickly learn new systems and tools (Google Workspace, Marketo, Affinity CRM, Splash, ClickUp, Salesforce, Slack, WordPress, Airtable, etc.).
  • High integrity and sound judgment, with a demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and make thoughtful decisions in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30%) to support onsite event execution.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative partner who thrives in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Events Manager to plan and execute large-scale external events for the a16z crypto Marketing team, including major industry conferences.
  • Manage the 12-week summer program for the Research team, including the development and execution of a curated hospitality program.
  • Oversee the full production of premium branded goods, from conception to delivery, for special projects and events.
  • Lead private dining and salon-style hospitality moments.
  • Work cross-functionally with various internal teams (executives, GTM, Regulatory/Policy, Research, Investment Team) to ensure seamless event and programming execution.
  • Partner with events colleagues across the firm to drive firm-wide visibility and alignment for all events.
  • Own systems management and reporting for production trackers, event plans, and event communications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to produce event collateral, registration materials, signage, and other guest-facing assets.
  • Oversee the team's event inventory, ensuring materials are organized, accessible, and ready for seamless execution.
