Event Worker/Referee (2026-2027)
About The Position
Event workers perform duties such as scorekeeping, setting up or tearing down game setups, and driving teams to away games, or anything else needed to ensure athletic games operate smoothly, as directed by the athletic director. Referees are responsible for the ethical enforcement of game rules and procedures to ensure fair competition. The job summary includes teaching sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes, promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect. It also involves fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, effort, and learning, communicating effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration, ensuring compliance with school, league, and district policies, and modeling professionalism as a positive role model for students. Prioritizing student safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, and injury protocols, is also a key aspect of the role.
Requirements
- Experience coaching or participating in the sport at the youth, middle school, or higher level.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work positively with middle school-aged students.
- Required background checks and district/school clearances.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
Nice To Haves
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
- Teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required.
