About The Position

The Village of Wilde Lake is seeking an Event Venue Manager to manage all activities associated with rentals and use of community facilities in the Village of Wilde Lake in Howard County, Maryland, and to ensure the smooth operation of Slayton House. Slayton House is a unique community center building which features a 240 seat theatre, dance studio, and juried art gallery, as well as several meeting rooms. Our facilities are available for use for theatre, educational, recreational events, as well as social and business functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 3+ years of experience in theatre management, facilities management, or event space/venue management required
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace
  • Great with customers
  • Polished and professional when working with clients
  • Strong communication skills - write well and speak eloquently in person and over the phone
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to shift priorities when needed
  • Work well with others

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Community association/non-profit experience preferred
  • Howard County resident preferred
  • Experience in theatre management

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and facilitate leases, rentals, and the use of community facilities.
  • Answer all inquiries about use and scheduling of facilities, prepare contracts and leases, and advise clients on WLCA rental policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct tours of Slayton House for prospective clients.
  • Maintain the rental schedule for all community facilities in the Master Scheduling Book.
  • Manage and prepare weekly and monthly schedules for Facility Assistants, Set-Up and Maintenance Personnel.
  • Train and supervise the work of facility assistants.
  • Manage the payment and security deposit process for all leases and rentals.
  • Ensure insurance coverage requirements are met.
  • Assist Village Manager with setting budget goals related to rental and lease income and facility related expenses, and ensure goals are met throughout the year.
  • Assist in facility maintenance processes by scheduling and coordinating outside contracts for cleaning and maintenance, ordering necessary supplies, attending building inspections, and responding to repair/maintenance requests.
  • Answer phones and greet visitors, and assists with other duties as needed.
