About The Position

Zingerman's Cornman Farms in Dexter, MI is hiring for Event Staff (porters). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a team while also working independently, has a passion for providing excellent guest service, and is looking for a flexible schedule that includes evenings. The Event Staff are responsible for delivering the Cornman Farms experience to all guests, focusing on setting up and taking down for events. This includes tasks such as dishwashing, moving and setting up tables and chairs, assisting with the setup and breakdown of events in various farm locations, cleaning, helping with inventory, and maintaining the overall appearance of the grounds. Some supervised kitchen work, including food preparation and plating, will also be part of the role. This is a temporary position from August 2026 through October 2026, with occasional shifts and part-time hours. Availability on Fridays and Sundays, which are the busiest event days, is required, along with weekday availability. Candidates must be available for at least 10 of the 12 listed event dates.

  • Experience working in food service or events is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setting up and breaking down of all events.
  • Dishwashing using automatic dishwashing machine and 3 compartment sink.
  • Moving and arranging tables and chairs.
  • Placing linens on tables.
  • Mopping and sweeping floors in all event spaces before and after events.
  • Ensuring that all rentals (plates, glassware, furniture, flatware, etc) are clean and properly stored.
  • Give exceptional service to all customers at our events.
  • Respond quickly to requests from guests, co-workers, supervisors and managers while being accurate, polite and enthusiastic.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times through actions and appearance.
  • Assist with the overall appearance of the grounds including picking up trash and debris.
  • Clean and maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Demonstrate proper handling of food service equipment.
  • Demonstrate proper handling and storage of cleaning equipment.
  • Identify and work to resolve any issues that might occur during events.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of service while assisting with all areas of event operations.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the success of the business and team members.
  • Act as a process engineer by following, improving and creating SOP’s.
  • Report to work on time and be ready to work at the start of each shift.
  • Follow proper procedure for sick calls and schedule requests.
  • May assist with preparing food or cooking as needed for special events.
