About The Position

The Event Porter at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum plays a vital role in ensuring that our museum and park remain pristine and welcoming for all event visitors. In this part-time position, you will provide cleaning services before, during, and after museum events. This role is ideal for someone with cleaning experience, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to creating a positive visitor experience.

Requirements

• Prior experience in general cleaning, custodial, or event support roles.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning procedures and equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and follow written cleaning procedures, safety instructions, and product labels.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• A dedication to the museum’s educational mission.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a museum, park, nature center, zoo, or similar environment is a plus.
• Experience with specialized equipment such as floor machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide all cleaning services in advance of, during, and after all assigned events at the Museum in accordance with established cleaning standard operating procedures.
• Service events hosted within the museum proper as well as events hosted at exterior locations such as the Fossil Field Station.
• Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Ensure restrooms remain properly stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Respond to requests for spill cleanup or other immediate cleaning needs.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Ensure all interactions with guests are cordial and helpful.
• Minimize interference with guest enjoyment while performing assigned duties.
• May be assigned to assist with public area cleaning activities on days of high attendance on an as-needed basis.
