About The Position

Centene is seeking an Event Planner I to support the events team and coordinate assigned events. This role is crucial in facilitating the communication of key corporate messages through well-organized events. The events are typically small (10-50 people), single-day, and involve basic requirements such as catering, audio-visual support, and minimal decor. The Event Planner I will also assist with event intake triage, support events coordinated by others, and advise departments on best practices. Some travel and interaction with senior leaders may be required. This is an onsite position at the corporate office in Clayton, Missouri.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in management, marketing, hospitality, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in event planning, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned events including pre-planning, on-site execution, vendor management, and post-event reporting and evaluations.
  • Plan event elements based on established event objectives, requirements, and budget.
  • Work with supervisor to create event agenda, gather content, and compose Run of Show and other supporting materials.
  • Arrange event components such as audio-visual equipment, utilizing approved tools like WebEx, survey collection platforms, and online registration platforms, catering, hotel room accommodations, facility, signage, decorations, and entertainment.
  • Submit Requests for Proposals, gather, and present proposals to supervisor.
  • Participate in site visits and act as a liaison between suppliers, venue, and the company.
  • Make arrangements for contingency plans as directed.
  • Facilitate design elements for marketing events including theme, signage, icons, logos, and communications.
  • Maintain records of events, including communications, registrations, and financial details.
  • Work with supervisor to secure contracts, ensure suppliers are paid, and necessary insurance, permits, and licenses are procured.
  • Operate within applicable corporate guidelines, processes, procedures, protocols, government regulations, laws, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in industry webinars, read trade publications, and network with other meeting professionals to stay updated on event management standards, best practices, and trends.
  • Provide overall program execution by overseeing project managers or planning teams.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of project plans.
  • Facilitate client and contract planner interface.
  • Assist with triaging event requests through the intake platform.
  • Assist with other department events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Research suppliers, trends, and ideas.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
