About The Position

The Event Manager is responsible for representing the company to customers and supervises the coordination and planning for assigned group catering and events. This role involves performing and supervising the preparation for group catering and events, including the completion of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), meeting room setup specifications, banquet food and beverage, audio-visual needs, program details, attrition, deposits, and billing details. The Event Manager must ensure compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, and accounting policies and procedures. They will prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, hotel departments, and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout all phases of hotel events. A key responsibility is ensuring a seamless turnover from sales to service and back to sales. The role also involves recognizing opportunities to maximize revenue through up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. The Event Manager must possess strong customer service skills, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction. Creativity in problem-solving and adaptability to changing work environments are essential. A strong customer focus to develop and sustain productive relationships and actively seeking information to understand and address customer needs is required. Additionally, the role includes ensuring maintenance problems are promptly reported to Engineering, ordering supplies, maintaining accurate inventory, and responding to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Education plus schooling in hotel/restaurant management or related major.
  • Two or more years of related experience in a high volume environment.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices.
  • Familiarity with Marriott Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the coordination and planning for assigned group catering and events.
  • Perform and supervise preparation for group catering and events including completion of Banquet Event Order (BEO), meeting room set up specifications, banquet food and beverage, audio visual, program details, attrition, deposits, billing details and collection of payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, hotel departments and customer to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases of hotel events.
  • Ensure seamless turnover from sales to service and then back to sales.
  • Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
  • Provide customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Develop creative ways to solve problems or come up with unusual or clever ideas about products, services or situations.
  • Effectively adjust to major changes in work tasks or the work environment.
  • Develop and sustain productive customer relationships; actively seeks information to understand and address customer needs.
  • Ensure maintenance problems are promptly reported to Engineering through proper channels.
  • Order supplies and maintain accurate inventory as assigned.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.
