About The Position

The Event Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, financial management, and end-to-end execution of high-volume, high-profile, revenue-generating events within a dynamic theme park environment. This role requires strong project management expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to successfully manage multiple complex events simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and client satisfaction. The position drives innovation, problem-solving, budget management, and operational excellence across Universal Orlando Resort properties, including Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, Volcano Bay, Epic Universe, and select Loews hotel locations. The Event Manager partners with internal teams, external stakeholders, meeting planners, and DMCs to deliver cohesive, engaging experiences that align with organizational goals. Managing a diverse client portfolio, including revenue generating corporate, association, incentive, social, and hybrid consumer events—the ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and consistently delivers outstanding results.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in event planning or conference/meetings with food & beverage experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to manage events end-to-end with strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset and focus on building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and forward-thinking, with knowledge of industry trends and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates leadership through mentorship, teamwork, and contributing to overall team success while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Flexible and reliable, with availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (from a four-year college or university) preferred within related discipline (Event Management, Hospitality, Sales/Marketing).
  • CMP or CSEP certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of revenue-generating events, serving as the primary liaison between clients, internal stakeholders, and operational partners throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to define event objectives and design elements that align with their goals while adhering to departmental protocols and SOPs.
  • Support the sales process by conducting site inspections and finalizing event details, ensuring a seamless transition from contract to execution.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and prioritize clear communication through prospectuses, timelines, and by leading task force meetings to ensure alignment and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of events, including budget development, revenue tracking, expense management, and billing processes to ensure profitability and achievement of Sales Incentive Plan goals.
  • Actively drive revenue growth by upselling additional event elements such as enhanced food and beverage offerings, entertainment, merchandise, and production services, while meeting individual and team EBITDA targets.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other tools to manage financial reporting, support cost negotiation efforts, and ensure accurate financial closeout and documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Entertainment, Catering, Resort Operations, and external vendors to deliver cohesive, high-quality event experiences.
  • Provide logistical support to Event Sales and collaborate with internal partners to troubleshoot and resolve challenges in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement solutions to ensure successful execution.
  • Effectively manage communications and coordination across events of varying size and complexity, including those involving large crowds.
  • Ensure completion of all required documentation, timelines, and event materials to support the successful management of multiple concurrent events.
  • Uphold brand compliance standards by collaborating with Trade Marketing to develop creative assets such as signage, digital programs, and promotional materials.
  • Conduct post-event recaps to evaluate performance, highlight successes, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Leverage emerging technologies, including AI, enhance efficiency and innovation, while contributing to continuous process improvements, SOP enhancements, and special projects.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
