About The Position

This seasonal role is crucial for ensuring the success of various events, facility rentals, workshops, meetings, and classes held at the Garden. The Event Logistics Associate provides essential set up and support services to both internal departments and external guests, contributing to a seamless and positive experience for all.

Requirements

  • Must work during weekends (Friday-Sunday), occasional evenings, and/or holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motorized cart.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to transport alcohol.
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to manage time to complete tasks by required deadlines.
  • Must possess exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, see, hear, speak, read, and type.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.
  • Comfortable working with heights.
  • Physically capable of operating small hand tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with small hand tools and handheld power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure event spaces are clean before, during, and after events, including floors, countertops, fixtures, restrooms, and the removal of debris, recyclables, and trash.
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, event equipment, and structures in a timely and orderly manner, adhering to safety standards.
  • Set up and break down audio/visual equipment, performing minor hardware troubleshooting.
  • Assist Beverage Department staff with bar setups and breakdowns, including providing assistance with trash, recycling, ice, and supplies during events.
  • Assist the Exhibits Department with the installation, maintenance, and de-installation of temporary art exhibitions and seasonal displays.
  • Assist staff and guests with deliveries of equipment and supplies to designated areas.
  • Operate a motorized cart to safely move furniture, equipment, supplies, and structures.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to Garden staff, volunteers, clients, guests, and vendors.
  • Ensure the needs of staff, volunteers, clients, guests, and vendors are met throughout events.
  • Keep venue staging areas organized and clean, maintaining accessibility and upholding fire code.
  • Perform basic grounds-keeping tasks to maintain venue presentation quality, and report or fix any damages or irregularities.
  • Use email communication systems and work request submission systems.
  • May represent Event Logistics staff at Garden meetings.
  • May operate Garden vehicles off-site when required.
  • May operate heavy machinery (forklift, etc.) after completing training and certification.
  • Lead progress on long-term projects or installations while balancing daily responsibilities.
