About The Position

The Event & Facility Services Technician supports both the operational and event needs of the Gateway Conference Center, a county-owned facility that serves as a hub for conferences, meetings, and community events. This position is responsible for keeping the facility clean, safe, and event-ready through a combination of light maintenance, custodial work, and event setup support. Working closely with the venue management team, this individual plays a vital role in executing successful events and maintaining a professional environment for clients and guests. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, physically capable, and have a strong customer service mindset.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, event setup, or a similar operational support role.
  • Equivalent combinations of training, education, and hands-on experience that demonstrate the required knowledge and skills will also be considered.
  • Basic facility and custodial maintenance methods, tools, and materials.
  • Event setup processes and common equipment (e.g., tables, chairs, staging).
  • Safety procedures and cleaning protocols, including high-traffic and food service areas.
  • Operating basic hand tools, cleaning equipment, and event setup gear.
  • Following facility diagrams and event layout instructions accurately.
  • Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently and within a team to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Lift and move heavy furniture or equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Stand, walk, bend, or climb for extended periods while performing physical labor.
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with team members, clients, and supervisors.
  • Adapt to changing schedules, event needs, and last-minute adjustments.
  • Understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Current and valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light maintenance tasks including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor repairs.
  • Ensure interior and exterior spaces (including landscaping) are clean, safe, and presentable.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues that require further repair or professional attention.
  • Set up and break down event spaces based on layout diagrams, including arranging tables, chairs, stages, dance floors, podiums, etc.
  • Ensuring all equipment and supplies are in place and operational.
  • Provide on-site support during events for last-minute adjustments or facility needs.
  • Assist event staff and vendors with logistical coordination when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all event spaces, common areas, kitchens, and restrooms.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash and sanitize trash receptacles regularly.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, mirrors, windows, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Deep clean carpets and furniture between events using appropriate equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize catering prep areas and kitchen equipment.
  • Collaborate with venue staff, contractors, and other county personnel as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines for all facility operations.
  • Maintain storage areas and equipment in an orderly and accessible condition.
  • Respond promptly to the manager’s requests and operational needs related to events.
