About The Position

This role is responsible for the operation of a department, performing additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary. The position involves preparing and executing budgets, approving purchases, and providing technical assistance. It also includes managing internal scheduled projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, controlling company costs, and leading third-party providers. The role requires troubleshooting and customer service, evaluating and implementing exterior maintenance needs, performing seasonal maintenance, and general maintenance including snow and ice management. Additionally, it involves maintaining vehicles, safely operating heavy machinery and powered equipment, and complying with company policies and values. Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation of a department.

  • Prepares and executes budgets by developing cost estimates on requested and planned projects.
  • Approves purchases of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to facilitate purchases.
  • Verifies receipt and acceptance of purchases.
  • Manages internal scheduled projects by determining work assignment priority.
  • Plans work assignments.
  • Develops and maintains workforce needs.
  • Creates punch lists to document discrepancies.
  • Ensures the completion of projects and assignments.
  • Sources, verifies, and approves material requisitions.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
  • Controls company costs by conducting price comparisons of parts, equipment, and travel-related expenditures.
  • Submits warranty claims.
  • Completes and submits forms (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders) to appropriate leadership and Home Office associates.
  • Leads third-party providers by coaching and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Develops and directs quality assurance inspections.
  • Troubleshoots and provides customer service by communicating with facility users.
  • Assesses and resolves customer problems and complaints.
  • Ensures work environments are maintained according to Walmart policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates current and future landscaping replacement needs (for example, mulch, rock, trees, shrubs, sod).
  • Implements upgrades to convert facilities into sustainable units.
  • Assesses potential improvements to lower operating costs.
  • Coordinates with Home Office support to standardize equipment and reduce on-hand stock.
  • Sources tools and equipment to perform repairs.
  • Ensures completed work meets quality and safety requirements.
  • Performs seasonal exterior maintenance activities, interior case cleaning on a seasonal schedule, and shopping cart PM and service on a seasonal schedule.
  • Identifies other issues related to regular service.
  • Performs general maintenance, including snow and ice management, by operating snow removal equipment, applying de-icing materials, clearing walkways, drives, and exterior areas, and supporting winter preparedness and response activities to maintain safe facility conditions.
  • Maintains vehicles in working mechanical (basic maintenance) and cleanliness condition.
  • Coordinates and takes vehicles for required maintenance, ensuring beforehand that alternate driving support is arranged.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures vehicles have all the required documents.
  • Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights.
  • Submits maintenance invoices for payment.
  • Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge according to company policies and procedures.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (for example, forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
