About The Position

Marigolds and Onions is a leading catering and event production company in Toronto, serving a wide range of clients from corporate events to large festivals and international sporting events. They are seeking experienced Chef Supervisors to join their Special Events culinary team for a busy season. This role involves overseeing on-site kitchen operations, managing culinary staff, ensuring food quality and safety, and executing event production in fast-paced environments. The Chef Supervisor plays a key leadership role in successful event execution and maintaining brand standards. The company is specifically hiring to support culinary operations at two major sporting events: the RBC Canadian Open and the National Bank Open.

Requirements

  • Food Handler Certification required
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Chef Supervisor within events, catering, or largescale hospitality operations
  • Previous experience managing and supervising kitchen teams
  • Strong knowledge of food allergies, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards
  • Ability to remain calm and organized under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to expedite food service efficiently in high-volume environments
  • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and event-based hours
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in all work settings
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Able to travel to multiple event locations throughout the GTA

Responsibilities

  • Set up kitchen workspaces with appropriate stock, equipment, and supplies required for service.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all cooking utensils and kitchen equipment are clean and properly maintained before use.
  • Ensure compliance with all food health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food production timing to align with event itineraries and service schedules.
  • Plan and direct activities related to menu preparation and food production.
  • Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking techniques, garnishing, and presentation.
  • Supervise specialist chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff during event operations.
  • Ensure food portions and presentation meet company standards and product specifications.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and productive kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
  • Coordinate loading, transportation, and delivery of food and equipment to event locations as required.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and adapt quickly in dynamic event environments.
