About The Position

The Office of the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking enthusiastic and dependable student workers to serve as Event Ambassadors during the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Event Ambassadors play a key public-facing role by welcoming guests and providing on-site support during events on Grounds, including hosting tours in Pavilion II. Ambassadors represent Arts & Sciences with professionalism and courtesy. This position is ideal for students who enjoy engaging with people, working in dynamic environments, and contributing to the success of institutional programs and experiences.

Requirements

  • Current UVA undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsive
  • Comfortable interacting with and engaging guests
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and willingness to be an ambassador for the College
  • Education: Current undergrad UVA student
  • Experience: None
  • Licensure: None

Nice To Haves

  • Prior event, hospitality or customer-service experience is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with event tools (Paperless Post/Eventbrite) is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at events, providing a warm and positive first impression.
  • Offer general event support, which may include assisting with event registration, seating, wayfinding, room setup, or distributing materials as needed.
  • Represent the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences by upholding UVA’s standards of service, hospitality, and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively with event organizers, staff, and fellow student workers to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Assist with event wrap-up tasks such as collecting materials, directing guests during departure, and helping ensure venues return to their proper condition.
  • Ability to guide tours of Pavilion II, as directed by the Office of the Dean and Arts & Sciences Marketing during designated times to support the portfolio of Arts & Sciences events and experiences.
