About The Position

GDI Services (Canada) LP is currently recruiting for an Evening Janitorial Supervisor to support operations at Cape Breton University. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality cleaning services across campus facilities. The Evening Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting a team of custodial staff during evening operations. This role ensures cleaning standards, safety compliance, and client satisfaction are consistently met.

Requirements

Previous supervisory experience in janitorial, facilities, or service operations
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Basic computer skills (email, reporting, scheduling)
Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of health & safety practices and cleaning procedures preferred

Responsibilities

Supervise, lead, and motivate janitorial staff during evening shifts
Create and manage staff schedules to ensure proper coverage
Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality and address deficiencies
Train and onboard new employees on cleaning procedures and safety protocols
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and WHMIS requirements
Maintain inventory and order cleaning supplies and equipment as needed
Communicate with management regarding staffing, client requests, and operational needs
Complete reports, inspections, and daily documentation
Respond to issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
