Even Start Teaching Assistant
About The Position
Are you seeking a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and families while also fulfilling your federal work-study? We are looking for you! The Even Start Teaching Assistants are part of the Even Start Program in the Kenosha Unified School District. No prior teaching experience is required. This position is a great fit for students interested in a career working with children and families across a variety of settings. This job is open to all majors and will be a particularly good fit if you're majoring in education, sociology, psychology, or communication. The Even Start Program is seeking students who can work throughout the 2026-2027 school year. You must have federal work-study in order to be eligible for this role.
Requirements
- Must submit and pass KUSD’s criminal background check
- Ability to work well with other co-workers in a team setting
- Interest in working with children
- Must have federal work-study

- Suggestions or ideas for creative lessons or activities for preschool children to complete are optional but welcome!
Responsibilities
- Assist with a variety of learning activities and projects that prepare preschool children for Kindergarten and help them gain English language skills.
- Help prepare materials and assist students and staff with activities.
- Work collaboratively in a team setting with other Even Start Program staff to help families (parents and preschool children) strengthen their English skills.
- Suggestions or ideas for creative lessons or activities for preschool children to complete are optional but welcome!
