About The Position

We are seeking an EVA Development SE&I Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This role involves evaluating information provided by NASA's Commercial Partners to ensure it meets requirements for interfaces with the crewmember in the International Space Station (ISS) and Lunar Extravehicular Activity (EVA) environments, as well as any vehicle or object that interfaces with the xEVA System. You will work with example interfaces such as Gateway Airlock Module, ISS Airlock, Human Landing System (HLS), Lunar Terrain Vehicle, PR, Tools, and Scientific Instruments, and review example documents including ConOps, IRDs, DRDs, IDDs, ICDs, GR&As, Plans, Reports, System Specs, V&V, Model outputs, and Analyses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Normally possess 5-10 years of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of extravehicular activity (EVA), space suits
  • Ability to use lessons learned from historical EVA and vehicle systems
  • Background in systems engineering
  • Demonstrated history of understanding complex systems such as those under development for Artemis missions
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills such as speaking with and presenting to NASA programs, control boards, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams
  • Strong history of reviewing technical documentation and providing meaningful feedback
  • US Citizenship and the ability to pass a comprehensive security background investigation is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to identify issues, prioritize responsibilities, and establish relationships with personnel on NASA teams, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams.
  • 5+ years of human spaceflight experience including 2+ years of direct experience with extravehicular activity equipment, extravehicular systems and/or space suits

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate from a Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) standpoint information provided by NASA's Commercial Partners via discussions and documentation adequately meets the requirements for all interfaces with the crewmember in the International Space Station (ISS), and Lunar Extravehicular Activity (EVA) environments as well as any vehicle or object that interfaces with the xEVA System.
