About The Position

This course examines a range of equity and diversity issues in the Ontario education system, particularly the different ways that exclusion and discrimination manifests through school policies and practices. The interlocking nature of oppression rooted in deficit thinking are discussed to understand the historical roots and on-going systemic barriers for equity-deserving groups. Strength-based approaches to teaching and community work are shared to encourage Teacher Candidates to be agents of social change and advocates for their students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification
  • Grades K – 10 teaching experience and/or school leadership experience in anti-discriminatory education
  • Education as a discipline
