About The Position

Soluroc is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our Sudbury team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our Solutions Team by developing accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates for bids and projects. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to build estimates that not only win business—but also protect profitability. Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in estimating, costing, or similar role
• Strong understanding of labor, material, and subcontracting cost drivers
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in Excel and estimating/ERP systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in mining, construction, or industrial environments is an asset

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors)
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and client requirements
• Apply consistent estimating methods to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
• Identify risks and incorporate contingencies into pricing
• Support the preparation and submission of bids and proposals
• Develop clear cost breakdowns and supporting documentation
• Ensure alignment with company pricing strategies and profitability goals
• Work closely with Solutions, Engineering, and Operations teams
• Partner with Procurement to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Participate in client discussions, clarifications, and negotiations as needed
• Maintain cost databases, supplier rates, and historical project data
• Track estimate accuracy and bid success rates
• Continuously update cost models based on market trends
• Recommend improvements to estimating tools and processes
• Stay current on industry pricing and market conditions
• Share knowledge and best practices across teams
