About The Position

Kiewit had 2021 revenues of $13 billion and employs around 27,500 staff and craft employees. We are adding a mid to senior level Estimator to our team to support Dredging projects. As an Estimator, you will prepare, review and present discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis. The Dredging district office is based out of Covington Louisiana.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in Civil Construction, Marine Construction, or Dredging or a combination of those.
  • Proficient skills in standard MS office software packages, including ADOBE and advanced skills in Excel; proficient with takeoff programs (specifically Bluebeam)
  • Experience with Navisworks
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Estimating software & Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing scheduled activities for estimated operations, and estimating standards and processes.
  • Experience producing quality calculations and organization of takeoff quantities
  • Coordinates with other estimators and key stakeholders to complete estimates on time and accurately
  • Able to identify gaps between plan drawings, specifications and disciplines
  • Experience with preparing detailed material lists to support procurement process
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel up to 10%

  • Prefer at least 1 year of estimating for the dredging industry.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate project specifications and drawings for dredge projects
  • Prepare schedules, quantity takeoffs, project cost sheets
  • Prepare detailed material, labor, equipment, and subcontract cost sheets
  • Accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes
  • Develop subcontractor scopes of work
  • Prepare project bid status reports
  • Monitor ongoing jobs for bid accuracy
  • Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
  • Maintain an accurate, current database of historical data
  • Foster relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
