About The Position

Delaware Valley Paving is expanding into the Dallas, Texas market and is seeking an experienced Estimator to support the growth and success of this new region. The Estimator will be responsible for gathering, evaluating, and preparing detailed cost estimates to support competitive and profitable bidding. This role plays a critical part in establishing Delaware Valley Paving’s presence in the Dallas market by ensuring accurate pricing, strong vendor relationships, and strategic bid execution. The ideal candidate has experience in paving, construction, or sitework, with strong knowledge of the Texas market, local subcontractors, and regional pricing dynamics.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of construction estimating experience (paving/sitework preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, and specifications
  • Experience with take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation
  • Familiarity with the Dallas/Texas construction market, vendors, and subcontractors (highly preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to present and support estimates in a clear and professional manner

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze plans, specifications, and construction documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates
  • Perform detailed take-offs and pricing for projects ranging from conceptual budgets to fully developed plans
  • Prepare estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Evaluate project scope, risks, and overall feasibility to determine bid strategy
  • Work closely with operations to ensure estimates align with production capabilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with local Dallas-area vendors and subcontractors
  • Source and vet subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable performance
  • Develop a strong understanding of local market conditions, pricing trends, and labor availability
  • Support the establishment of Delaware Valley Paving’s vendor network in the Texas market
  • Coordinate and manage the full bid process from initial review to final submission
  • Compile and analyze estimate data impacting cost factors such as labor, materials, equipment, and location
  • Manage bid portals and ensure all submissions are completed accurately and on time
  • Participate in contract negotiation and scope clarification
  • Review project plans and specifications to identify risks, gaps, or inconsistencies
  • Determine whether projects align with company capabilities and financial goals
  • Communicate key risks and opportunities to leadership prior to bid submission
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, and leadership to support successful project acquisition
  • Clearly communicate scope, pricing assumptions, and project requirements
  • Present estimates and proposals to internal teams and, when needed, to clients or partners
  • Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Complete special projects and support overall market growth initiatives as needed
  • Occasionally visit job sites within the Dallas region to gather necessary project information
