About The Position

The Estimator is the core of the estimating department, a well-rounded professional with solid trade knowledge and the ability to take a project through the full estimate process with standard oversight. You know the work, you know the tools, and you're reliable. This role requires both technical competence and strong contractor engagement skills, and it's the foundation from which more senior roles are built.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED, required
  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating or a closely related field
  • Working knowledge of multiple trades commonly associated with the company's project portfolio
  • Experience qualifying subcontractor bids and scopes of work
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools
  • Strong verbal communication skills, particularly for contractor outreach and follow-up
  • Ability to manage multiple active estimates simultaneously
  • Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, background check, and MVR, if driving for the company

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete, accurate estimates for construction projects across relevant trades and disciplines
  • Qualify subcontractor scope and pricing, ensuring appropriate coverage and competitive bids
  • Reach out to and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bid process
  • Utilize department estimating tools and software to produce organized, consistent estimate packages
  • Coordinate with Lead Estimators and Sr. Estimators on scope questions, trade gaps, or project-specific challenges
  • Meet project deadlines and communicate proactively when timelines are at risk
  • Continuously build knowledge of trades, materials, and construction methods relevant to company project types
