About The Position

Turner & Townsend is a global professional services company seeking an experienced Estimator with 3-5 years post-graduate experience in cost planning and estimating. The role involves preparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for Energy & Natural Resource & Mining projects, specifically industrial type work projects within Alberta and nationally. The successful candidate will produce and present final cost plans/estimates, apply Value Management techniques, manage cost analysis and valuation work, and participate in basic project and financial management responsibilities.

Requirements

• 3- 5 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services
• A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
• Experience of working in a consultancy or owner organization.
• Experience of working in the Canadian construction market.
• Experienced user of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

• Piping and or pipeline experience is an asset
• Fabrication & Module experience is an asset
• Knowledge of and experience using InEight & Aspentech software is an asset

Responsibilities

• Preparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for Energy & Natural Resource & Mining projects.
• Produce estimates, taking ownership of them and presenting the final cost plan/estimate to the department lead.
• Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate.
• Ensuring that cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively.
• Participating on basic project and financial management responsibilities such as timesheets, free tracking, invoice preparation etc.
