About The Position

Estimator II is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for small to mid-sized projects and supporting the full bidding cycle. This role is a key contributor to pre-construction, collaborating with internal and external clients to ensure successful project opportunities. Estimator II also collaborates with junior estimators, supports maintaining estimating tools and databases, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 – 6 years of estimating experience required in the construction industry.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously, yet possess the discretionary judgment to know when it's appropriate to consult with others in the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient utilizing Bluebeam software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including building spreadsheets and using formulas effectively.
  • Proficient utilization of 3rd party estimating software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of detailed material, labor, and cost estimates.
  • Estimate small to mid-sized projects with minimal supervision from estimating leadership or Project Manager.
  • Collaborate on mid-sized to large projects with estimating leadership or Project Manager.
  • Provide support to Project Managers for project estimates & budgets.
  • Responsible for assisting with change order estimating, compilation and negotiation, including material, equipment buy outs, and project turnover on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the estimating coordination of pre-construction job meetings with department heads and supervisors.
  • Review project plans and specifications and site conditions to assess project scope and requirements.
  • Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and bid proposals to understand project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, BIM/Detailing, Fabrication, Purchasing, and Field Operations.
  • Work closely with project managers, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with project scope and schedule.
  • Contributes to special studies, committees, training, etc., to advance company’s technical abilities in estimating and installation procedures.
  • Review peer estimates, takeoffs, and collaborate with junior team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, estimating standards, and safety regulations.
  • Attend training courses related to estimating methods and software utilized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
