YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY: The Estimator II is a mid-level professional responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Estimator II solves a range of straightforward problems and assembles construction costs by collecting and studying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, to ensure they understand what is required to bid on and win the project successfully, and can present the project cost to Senior leadership. With moderate guidance and direction, the Estimator II provides overall support for small- to medium-sized projects, assisted by a senior-level estimator. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and requirements. Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work and entering them into the computer estimating system; review the estimate printout for accuracy and completeness. Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness according to plans and specifications. Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies. Provide guidance to personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids. In conjunction with Senior Estimators, develop labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data. Compile and execute the scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, then present them to the Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and/or Chief Estimator for the estimated bid package. After the successful bid, at project turnover, meet with the project management team along with the senior-level estimator to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes, and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project. Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents. Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates. Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating assumptions and methodologies.
