About The Position

Estimator I and II are developmental positions within the preconstruction department. The Estimator provides support for one large project or multiple smaller projects. The role participates in bid efforts, works with teams using Design Build and CM at Risk delivery methods, and provides administrative support to the estimating department. The Estimator is expected to perform basic estimating tasks competently while developing an understanding of more advanced principles, including conceptual estimating, project logistics, and indirect costs.

Requirements

Estimator I: 1–3 years of experience.
Estimator II: 2–5 years of experience.
Four-year engineering degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Responsibilities

Accurately perform quantity takeoffs.
Assist with pricing project logistics, including hoisting, personnel lifts, and temporary construction elements.
Develop abstracts and evaluate basic trade bids.
Develop a basic understanding of indirect costs, including insurance, taxes, and fees.
Develop pricing for basic project elements and assist in preparing key estimating deliverables.
Draft subcontracts and purchase orders for review by senior personnel.
Provide document control for assigned projects, including subcontractor lists, plan distribution, and addenda.
Solicit pricing for projects in the hard-bid environment.
Support conceptual estimating efforts, including developing basic models for review by senior personnel.
Develop budget uploads and purchasing plans under the oversight of senior personnel.
