About The Position

The Gear Department is responsible for complex, high-stakes electrical gear configuration, pricing, and delivery. The Project Estimator plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of estimates, which form the foundation for project success. This role involves working closely with contractors, vendors, and the internal Gear team to manage projects from technical document review through pricing, negotiation, and coordination. The ideal candidate will take ownership of outcomes, ensuring details are correct, timelines are met, and customer confidence is maintained as project volume and complexity increase.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications to select appropriate products.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency with standard software applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years in the electrical industry preferred.
  • Experience with Eclipse is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own project estimation end to end, including technical document review, product selection, pricing, and order negotiation.
  • Interpret plans and specifications to select appropriate products for the application and identify potential issues early.
  • Utilize configuration and pricing software to create accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturers to ensure project goals are met within the prescribed timeline and budget.
  • Confer with project staff, contractors, and manufacturers to outline work plans and assign responsibilities.
  • Guide customers through equipment selection, quote review, and customized solutions.
  • Deliver timely and reliable communication to build customer confidence.
  • Prepare clear project reports for management, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Flag issues such as pricing gaps, spec conflicts, and timeline risks proactively.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with contractors and vendors.
  • Turn accurate quotes into closed orders by understanding customer needs and on-site requirements.
  • Partner with the Gear team and Sales staff to close orders and foster repeat business.
