About The Position

The Estimator Assistant provides essential support to the Estimating Department, ensuring smooth operations and timely completion of departmental tasks. This role involves assisting in securing subcontractor and vendor estimates/proposals, saving and distributing solicitation documentation, and other administrative tasks required by the department. Candidates may be entry-level or experienced, with opportunities to grow within the department.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and organize construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of construction estimating experience is preferred.
  • Previous construction field experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review and manage all solicitation documents on company server.
  • Organize and maintain project documents.
  • Assist with distributing project documentation/bid requests to potential subcontractors, suppliers, or vendors using estimating software/database.
  • Contact vendors to attend site visits. Attend site visits as needed by the department.
  • Continuously update company's database, including researching and soliciting new subcontractors to add to company's database or removing subcontractors from our database.
  • Ensure all POC for subcontractors are accurate and up to date.
  • Generate and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Confirm scope of work by reviewing solicitation documents.
  • Add important dates and deadlines to departmental calendars.
  • Update departmental spreadsheets.
  • Track submitted bids.
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and booking meeting rooms as needed.
